Payment Processing Fees
What Are Payment Processing Fees?
Payment processing fees are standard charges applied to financial transactions, such as payments made via credit or debit card or ACH (Automated Clearing House) bank transfers. These fees cover the cost of securely and reliably processing payments.
For new invoices starting April 2025, Wonderschool will implement payment processing fees for all billing transactions made through our platform:
- Credit and Debit Card Payments: 2.85% + $0.30 per transaction
- ACH Payments: 0.4% (capped at $2 per transaction)
These fees are necessary to ensure the continued improvement and reliability of our billing system, providing programs and their families with a seamless and secure payment experience.
Who Pays the Processing Fees?
Programs have two options for managing who pays payment processing fees:
- Program Pays Fees: Processing fees are calculated based on the amount of each family's invoice and will be deducted from the total that gets paid to the program.
- Families Pay Fees: Processing fees are added to each family’s invoice as a separate charge.
The payment settings are set by default for the program to pay the processing fees. Programs can choose to pass this fees onto families and can change this setting themself from the Payment Settings page of their Wonderschool account by following the instructions below.
How Can Programs Update Processing Fee Settings?
Program can adjust their processing fee settings at any time:
- Go to your Payment Settings.
- Click the Edit link next to Processing Fees.
- Select your preferred option from the dropdown menu:
- Program pays processing fees
- Families pay processing fees
- Click the Save button and then the Confirm Save button.
Note that it is the program's responsibility for informing parents if they will be passing payment fees onto families.
